Padghams assists restore the TAJ Mahal Palace, Mumbai
Within 48 hours of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai late last year, Padghams commenced the initial damage assessment survey on the TAJ Mahal Palace, Mumbai, which was at the centre of these attacks.
Padghams assisted the Hotel Group in the preparation of an overall replacement budget and a submission of claim to the insurers, before contributing to the fast track completion and commissioning of the tower block - all within a month of the damage occurring.
Padghams is presently involved in preparing the tender documentation and negotiation of over 40 work packages for the heritage building. It will be of no surprise that the work is planned for completion in record time!
Padghams' Commonwealth Games Feat
Padghams is one of a consortium of Australian companies appointed to develop the new Yamuna and Siri Fort Stadium as part of the 2010 Commonwealth Games construction.
Padghams contribution to the consortium headed by Peddle Thorp Architects has been significant. The consultancy has been involved in:
a) Setting up a realistic budget, taking into consideration the use of sophisticated imported materials, equivalent local alternatives and the inherent complexities of such building types.
b) Preparing BQs for all disciplines, including the MEP services, within tight time frames through close interaction with the design team.
c) Assisting with pre-tender estimates to negotiate a reasonable contract sum with the short listed bidders. This aspect was very important given the competition amongst contractors was quite limited and hence there was more reliance on effective negotiations to achieve the desired outcome.
Padghams also assisted the local architect to review and advise on the appropriate procurement model for the overlay portion in the Commonwealth Games Village Project being implemented on a PPP approach.
